Brexit plan to end freedom of movement will be 'catastrophic' for events industry

According to the The British Hospitality Association, at least 60,000 new EU service workers are needed each year to fill the vacancies in hospitality and ending freedom of movement will lead to a chronic shortage of workers. Are you worried?

I think (and hope) this will be resolved one way or another in time by the powers that be. Whatever your politics, Brexit is undeniably a mammoth task and it will take time to work through the detail but hopefully they will get to a point where the industry can still employ the people it needs to. I don’t know enough about this to suggest how but fingers crossed.

Yes, you’ve got to assume the government will make provisions for required EU migrant workers. They do it currently, granting skilled visas for NHS staff from countries outside of the EU. It will just be more paperwork for the employers…
