I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve typed Oink Floyd on an iPhone or iPad keyboard and autocorrect doesn’t pick it up. Thanks for spotting that one, I’ve now put it right
Your answer about the lack of ticket sales does provide me with some reassurance; I’ve been really stressing about this as I stand to lose a fair bit of my own money if it flops. It would also damage the reputation I am looking to build for the re-launched ATFV Events and of course the biggest thing is that I don’t want to let the charity down.
I do not have any budget to speak of so my marketing efforts are perhaps very limited compared to what you are used to seeing; I have A3 colour posters which are throughout the venue, local area and places such as Costa and Tesco.
I have two thousand flyers which are being left in strategic places - I will also be pushing them through letterboxes in the locality soon as well as handing them out at the next Swans home game.
I have a day planned at a local Tesco store where I can push the event and gather email addresses for my longer term marketing.
I have done a little bit of paid advertising on Facebook too, but not much at this point - and even then I don’t have huge sums to throw at it.
The band we have, Welsh Floyd, are also advertising it as part of their wider UK tour and as the charity we are raising for is run by our local radio station, Swansea Sound/The Wave, I’ve been promised three mentions a day for the event.
Furthermore, Admiral Insurance are putting posters up and sending details to all their staff in the Swansea offices and I have offered them a 25% discount (via an Eventbrite code) as well as ten free tickets to give away to staff as a form of reward.
I’m trying to be as creative as I can with my marketing and I deliberately set a ticket price well below Welsh Floyd’s normal ticket price of £21 in an effort to attract as many people as possible. It’s a bit disheartening that I haven’t had any sales on the Eventbrite site yet (I have sold some offline and I have a batch of 10 entrants paying on the door) but that may be me panicking for nothing given the time left before the event.
I must stress I’m not an events professional, I’m a novice with as “day job” and no budget to play with - so any hints or tips that might help would be gratefully received. And indeed it’s the exact reason I joined this community, so I could utilise the expertise of the collective.
