LED Badges

(Allison Pinney Collis) #1

Hi all,

Has anyone used LED badges for conferences that are not the usual ‘wrap around’ style?

Ie I’m looking for a truly LED badge which can be programmed to show the delegates name and a QR code and potentially their’ wants’…

I know some people who can build these but conscious the cost will rapidly outweigh any that may already be on the market?

There was a tech conference last year in Cardiff where everyone had a Raspberry Pi powered id badge

This is pretty much what i would like - but slicker!

Looks pretty rudimentary. I’m surprised there are not many sophisticated options for this already. Since we all carry mini computers on us anyway, perhaps instead someone could make a smartphone app for name badges. Then delegates wear their phones on a lanyard showing the display? They could use it to instantly swap contact details too, via bluetooth. Maybe I should invent this?!

Ah yes, Blendology. They have the ‘tap’ technology. Would be great if you could do it from your own phone though.
