The Principal Blythswood Square Hotel , Glasgow’s only five-star hotel, has revealed a luxurious two-bedroom penthouse.

Principal Penthouse stretches over 1,850 sq. ft and features a private entrance and lift making it suited to press junkets, cocktail parties and events. The penthouse also comes with an outdoor terrace that provides views across the city, as well as a fully equipped kitchen, bar and dining room.

De Vere Canary Wharf has unveiled a new contemporary conference suite, following a refurbishment of what was formerly its ground floor restaurant. The new conference suite includes seven meeting rooms incorporating the latest tech and AV equipment. The largest space, The Canary Suite, has capacity for up to 110 theatre-style and offers event planners a blank canvas.

Meanwhile, a new dining concept by Burr & Co. features a regularly changing menu designed by Group Nutritionist Wendy Martinson OBE.

News of another De Vere refurb, this time at Wokefield Estate, near Reading. They’ve splashed out £20 million for a complete restoration of the venue’s historic Mansion House.

Newly refurbished meeting and event spaces include the Lincoln Suite – an old chapel; The Old Lounge, with a magnificent original fireplace; Mortimer, with views of the hotel’s gardens, and the elegant Maple Suite, which is the Mansion House’s largest event space and features an extensive balcony overlooking the grounds and lake, providing a scenic break-out area.

The estate is also home to Wokefield Place, a dedicated on-site conference centre that boasts 51 meetings spaces, including the refurbished Wokefield Suite, which has a capacity of up to 400 delegates, and the recently launched The Canary Suite, that has a capacity of up to 150 delegates.

After starting as a pop-up, London Shuffle has set up a permanent home in Shoreditch. The 7000 sq ft, colourful space features the UK’s first ever open-air shuffleboard terrace and will focus on the classic floor shuffleboard version of the game.

An Airstream trailer will offer a carefully curated selection of craft ales, while street food vendors will serve a selection of snacks. Live music, and DJs playing laid-back funk, soul and rare groove complete the fun.

Savage Garden, just opened atop the DoubleTree by Hilton London – Tower of London, is the city’s latest rooftop destination. Set 12 storeys high, the bar has floor-to-ceiling windows affording uninterrupted views of the London skyline.

In addition to its seductive interiors, Savage Garden also boasts two terraces. Wildside is an expansive all-weather terrace and events space complete with a retractable roof. Facing south is Savage Garden’s Beefeater Pink South Terrace, decked out with banquette seating and planters.

In addition, Ferus is the venue’s private dining space, perfect for more intimate, private affairs with a capacity of 57.

Chelsea Football Club, located at Stamford Bridge on the Fulham Road, has relaunched its sports bar and restaurant under the new name, Frankie’s Sports Bar & Grill.

The venue has been fully refurbished and now features a marble-topped bar, brass trimmed tables and 16 big screens. Large dual-aspect windows provide natural daylight throughout. The venue is available for private hire for corporate events or parties.

All 301 rooms and suites at London Marriott Hotel West India Quay have undergone a full makeover to offer fresh, stylish accommodation in the heart of Canary Wharf. According to Marriott, the new design incorporates “sleek lines with splashes of turquoise to reflect the waterways surrounding the property, alongside intelligent technology.”

The hotel also features 19 modern event and meeting rooms able to accommodate 290 people, and a bar
housing over 180 gins, including those from micro-breweries across London.

Travelodge has opened a flagship £95 million Travelodge Plus hotel in the City of London promising great value with “added style and comfort” (rooms start from £79).

Only a 7 minute walk from the Gherkin, Travelodge London City features new Standard Rooms, SuperRooms and a new concept Bar Café. The budget hotel chain is also building four more hotels across the capital.

Park Regis Birmingham has opened a new conference and events space on the 16th floor. Boasting 360° views across the city through floor-to-ceiling windows, the 480 sqm space can accommodate up to 400 people.
The new space includes the ‘Sky Loft’, which can accommodate up to 100 guests, and the ‘Sky Gallery’, with a capacity of up to 300. Meanwhile, the 15th floor - where the hotel’s conference facilities were previously located - has been transformed into additional meeting rooms and break-out areas.

Twickenham Stadium’s new East Stand offers six floors of creative event space available for private hire from December. Eight new spaces include:

The Gate - Chop house-style restaurant with a dark and moody atmosphere and open brickwork. The facility features its own wine room and meat store and offers a Chef’s Table that can accommodate a group of 48 guests.

The Union Ale House - Offering the ultimate pub vibe and accommodating 300 standing.

Arora Group will unveil two linked Heathrow Terminal 4 hotels next month. The dual-branded property, Crowne Plaza London – Heathrow Terminal 4 and Holiday Inn Express London – Heathrow Terminal 4, boasts a total of 761 bedrooms.

The hotels are a three-minute walk to the terminal building via a link-bridge and with direct access to the London Underground and Heathrow Express train service.
