(Melissa Saunders) #1

Potential sponsors are often looking for a unique or unusual opportunity to showcase their brand. What innovative ideas have you come up with and did the idea or the sponsor come first?

The awards run by M&IT magazine, where I used to work, offered sponsorship of different elements of the event - including the toilets! Might seem like something you wouldn’t want to associate your company with, but actually if you think how often guests pay a visit it’s a great opportunity. You could place useful branded amenities in the loos (like plasters for blisters and spare tights) to really be noticed and remembered.

Sounds great. You’ve got to go where your audience go and wherever works for your brand. It’s also a great opportunity for additional revenue for venues too. I’m surprised how many places don’t have advertising in the toilets.

Especially good when you can give visitors a chuckle…

I think sponsored phone charging points are a big win these days. People are so relieved and thankful for it. Just found this site:

I think that’s an area @InCharged specialises in?

(Ramon Perez) #7

Yes! At InCharged, a large part of our revenue actually comes from renting our charging stations to event directors, sponsorship directors, etc. They then sell up-sell the charging stations to a variety of brands for that publicity. The charging stations are full customize-able… all the way from the actually wrapping of the charging station to the media on it. We’ve worked with a lot of large event venues… Coachella, Bonaroo, Firefly but also with brands themselves such as Uber, MAC cosmetics Chik Fillet just to name a few. We are expanding now and creating event technology such as the social vend machine, photo booths, printers, battery packs, etc. which all have the same idea behind them as well. The idea is nice because, let’s face it, anyone attending an event is more than likely to have a cell phone meaning who ever purchases the sponsorship space has the potential to get their brand across to a large amount of attendees.

Not sure if I can post the link but just so you can get an idea of the products… check them out at InCharged.com

Thanks Ramon. I think these are such a good opportunity because those who use it get an immediate benefit and we are so attached to our phones these days. Anything less than 50% charged and we start to panic so it provides the opportunity for the brand to be a “life-saver!”

That is a great idea Belinda, I was just thinking how that could apply for the sponsors I could get, in particular a Home Decor Sponsor, we could add their items, flowers etc, to our venue toilet with their logo on it.

Yes, or create a little lounge area furnished with their products for meetings or complimentary coffee?

In the largest event that I’m involved in organising, which is outdoors, there will be a sponsorship opportunity for vehicles used as gate guardians for anti-terrorism measures.
